Simply Sketched Saturday Challenge Hello Birthday Card

Thank you for joining us for another Simply Sketched Saturday Challenge! We’re so excited to be sharing this hop with you. The products used are all available in the current Annual, or seasonal, Stampin’ Up!® Catalogues*. Simply use the buttons at the bottom of the post to keep hopping!

It has been a while since we did a Simply Sketched Saturday Challenge, with Christmas etc. but we are back on track now and will be “hopping” regularly on a Saturday and bringing you some amazing products!

So for today’s sketch….

For today’s cards I used the brilliant Hello Stamp Set  from the Sale-a-Bration catalogue which is only available until 15th February so you need to get in quick! I have gone in to more detail about the Sale-a-Bration promotion at the end of this post so don’t forget to stay until the end to see how you can qualify for this stamp set and more gorgeous products.

I used a piece of Whisper White A4 Thick Cardstock cut at 4 1/8 inches and I scored both card bases at 5 7/8 inches.

P1010807_marked

For my “birthday girl” card, I stamped the small party hat image randomly all over my card base in Wisteria Wonder Classic Ink and So Saffron Classic Ink. This is one of my favourite colour combinations! It is quite difficult to get the right amount of pressure with these little stamps so have a practice on some scrap paper first. I found I was either applying too much pressure or not enough but you get the hang of it soon enough.

Then using one of my Circles Framelits Dies and my Bigshot I die cut a circle out of Wisteria Wonder A4 Cardstock for my centre piece.

For my “Birthday Boy” card I used Tempting Turquoise Classic Ink and Watermelon Wonder Classic Ink and Tempting Turquoise A4 Cardstock.

On my circle pieces I stamped the “Hello” sentiment in Versamark Ink and heat embossed it with White Stampin’ Emboss Powder and my heat tool. I popped these on to my card bases with some Stampin Dimensionals.  I finished my circle piece with a couple of the 1/8 inch Mini Brads.

To finish my cards off I stamped my “Birthday Girl” sentiment on to some Whisper White Cardstock in Wisteria Wonder Ink, and my “Birthday Boy” sentiment in Watermelon Wonder Ink. I punched these out with the Washi Label Punch and popped them up with some dimensionals.

I finished off with a few sequins from the Metallics Sequin Assortment. That’s it for my take on this weeks sketch but I think this stamp set is a must in everyone’s collection so get it quick!!

Pootlers Spring and Summer Blog Hop

bog hop-001

Welcome to another Pootler’s Blog Hop! Today’s blog hop is all about Spring & Summer, Yay!!! I am so over Winter, I hate the dark nights. So to cheer us up we have a brand new Spring & Summer Catalogue which of course coincides with Sale-a-Bration (for more details scroll to the bottom of the page), so there really is no better time to spend your money! So you may have joined me from our lovely Hannah who is the lovely lady that organises the hops (much love to her!) or you may be working your way backwards and arrived from the lovely Karen’s blog. Either way we will be showcasing some of the gorgeous new products from the new catalogue.

P1010809_marked

For today’s card I used the gorgeous Balloon Celebration Stamp Set which is available in a bundle, saving 15%, with the Balloon Bouquet Punch. This is such a pretty and delicate stamp set I knew I wanted to keep with more of a subtle colour scheme so I went with Mint Macaron A4 Cardstock for my card base cut at 4 1/8 inches and scored at 5 7/8 inches.

P1010810_marked

I added a piece of the Love Blossoms Designer Series Paper Stack measuring 3 7/8 inches x 5 5/8 inches. To make my background for my cute balloons, I made a mask from some post it notes by stamping the cloud shapes on to them and cutting them out and using the tiniest bit of Snail Adhesive to stick them down temporarily on to a piece of Whisper White A4 Cardstock measuring 3 5/8 inches x 5 3/8 inches. Then taking some Soft Sky Classic Ink (appropriately named for this project) I sponged on some colour over my masks. Then peeling them away leaving some whiter clouds. To add a bit of depth to my clouds, using the cloud images I stamped over my white areas with some Smoky Slate Classic Ink, using the stamping off or second generation stamping technique so the colour was a little more muted.

P1010811_marked

Now for my favourite bit!! Taking the two solid balloon images I stamped some in Blushing Bride Classic Ink and Mint Macaron Classic Ink on to some Whisper White cardstock. Then taking the shading images for the balloons, I stamped this on to them with some Smoky Slate Ink. I them punched them out using the Balloon Bouquet punch. I stamped the balloon strings on to my background again with some Smoky Slate Ink and popped this up on my card front using some Stampin Dimensionals. I then arranged my balloons, some I stuck down with Tonbow Mono Multi Glue and others I popped up using dimensionals.

P1010812_marked

For my sentiment, as I wanted this to be a Valentine’s card, I used the Bloomin’ Love Stamp Set. I stamped my sentiment again in Smoky Slate Ink on to some Blushing Bride A4 Cardstock and popped this up on my card front. Using a spare heart that I had embossed many moons ago (I tend to do a few at a time if I am doing one and keep them for a rainy day) I popped this up on to my sentiment.

P1010813_marked

For the inside of my card I used another sentiment and small heart stamp from the Bloomin’ Love Stamp Set. Well that’s my card for today.

I really enjoyed making this card and I was pleased with how it turned out, I might try and step out of my comfort zone though and try a different colour palette! Don’t forget to hop on to my fellow Pootler’s for more inspiration!

Thanks for hopping by today, Louise xx

Stampin Up Painted Petals Cards Stamped with Embossing Folder

We are now on the big countdown down to the new catalogue launch 2105-2016…..

Which also means that time is rapidly running out to snatch up the remaining items on the retiring list which you can find HERE! But it also means saying goodbye to some of the gorgeous items from the Spring and Summer catalogue that have not carried over to the annual catalogue, these will not be available after 2 June 2015 😦

Painted Petals Cards

Painted Petals Cards

So with that it mind I am dedicating the next few days to products from the Spring and Summer catalogue or the retiring list in the run up to the new catalogue launch.  Saying that, the biggest surprise for me was that the Painted Petals Stamp Set and co-ordinating products have not carried over in to the new annual catalogue. So for my first post I have focused on these products for my cards.

To begin with I made my card bases, I took 4 pieces of A4 Cardstock and cut them in half at 4 1/8 inches and 5 7/8 inches in Wild Wasabi, Rose Red, Pacific Point and Blackberry Bliss, and scored the Rose Red and Blackberry Bliss cards at 4 1/8 inches and the Pacific Point cards at 5 7/8 inches.

To make my embossed background pieces I took 4 pieces of Whisper White Cardstock measuring 3 7/8 inches x 5 5/8 inches. Grabbing my Spring Flowers Textured Embossing Folder (which is currently on the Weekly Deals) and my BigShot I decided to create two different types of background. For my first two pieces I inked the embossing folder, inking up the raised area of my embossing folder, with Rose Red Classic Ink and Pacific Point Classic Ink and ran these through my BigShot embossing and inking the pattern on to my piece of Whisper White.

I decided to do my other two backgrounds slightly different. I inked up my embossing folder in the same way with Blackberry Bliss Classic Ink and Wild Wasabi Classic Ink, but did not run the embossing folder through my BigShot. Instead I applied lots of pressure to my closed folder sandwiching my piece of Whisper White and the ink together. Being very careful opening my embossing folder I now have a stamped background effect, which is really very pretty! I adhered my four backgrounds on to their matching card bases with some Fast Fuse.

For each of my cards using the Painted Petals Stamp Set and co-ordniating ink colours I stamped one of the flower designs and one of the leaf designs, with Wild Wasabi Ink, using my Stamp-a-ma-Jig on to some more Whisper White cardstock. I trimmed this piece down to 3 inches x 2 3/4 inches and taking some matching Painted Blooms Designer Series Paper cut this half an inch bigger than my stamped piece, 3 1/2 inches x 3 1/4 inches. I popped these together and onto my card fron with some Stampin Dimensionals. I also stamped a sentiment from the stamp set for each card in co-ordinating colours and punched these out using the Scalloped Oval Punch, 1 1/4 Inch Scalloped Circle Punch and the Decorative Label Punch.

I popped these up onto matching punched out shapes in matching card stock colours and for the Pacific Point and Blackberry Bliss cards I added some Dazzling Diamonds Glimmer Paper also punched out. For the Rose Red card I used some of the Champagne Glimmer Paper which is also retiring!! I popped all these on with some Stampin Dimensionals. For my final touch I used some Basic Pearl Jewels for the flowers and on the sentiement pieces.

I think surprisingly, although I love Blackberry Bliss and all the Blue colours, my favourite is the Wild Wasabi card! And I am not a fan of green! So let me know in the comments below which is your favourite and I hope I have inspired you to try out something different with your embossing folders and to also get in your last minute orders before the 2 June!!

Be quick and pop over to my Shop HERE!!!

Thanks for stopping by today xx

Weekly Wednesday Easter For Peeps Sake Treat Bags

I don’t really want my Wednesday posts to have a theme as such, I want Wednesday’s more to be about whatever mood I am sort of in, but my mood will begin on the first Wednesday of the month and will stay the same for that month! I know long mood!! So sort of like a monthly series!?

I am a bit late into this month so I am going to jump into Easter as it really is not that far away!

For Peeps Sake Easter Treat Bags

So a nice and easy quick treat for little ones (or not so little ones) these would be a nice teacher gift or from a teacher to their students! Or maybe visiting relatives!?

For Peeps Sake Chocolate Treat Bags

I took the For Peeps Sake Stamp Set and stamped the Easter chick image and the “Happy, Hoppy Easter” sentiment in Strawberry Slush, Costal Cabana, Daffodil Delight, Wisteria Wonder and Pistachio Pudding Classic Ink on to some Whisper White Cardstock.  I then used my Circles Framelits Collection (3rd smallest) to die cut these out with my BigShot.  Once all done I cut a piece of cardstock measuring 1 5/8inches x 3 2/8 inches out of Strawberry Slush, Costal Cabana, Daffodil Delight, Wisteria Wonder and Pistachio Pudding A4 Cardstock.

For Peeps Sake Stamps

To pretty these pieces up a bit I used a bit of partial punching with my Scallop Oval Punch where I put my cardstock in from underneath and only through part of the punch (see below).  This edged my cardstock pieces, I scored and folded them in half.

Partial Punching

For my treats I used some small covered chocolate sweets and placed them in some of the 2.5cm x 20.3cm Cellophane bags in rainbow order.  I took the piece of cardstock and stapled this to my treat bag.  Then taking some Stampin Dimensionals I popped the Easter chick on the front and my sentiment on the back and there we have it some very fun, quick and simple Easter Treat Bags!!

Tag it Tuesday Stampin’ Up Sale-a-Bration Irresistibly Yours Thinking of You Cards

I am trying to introduce some themes to my daily posts to challenge myself to make different projects.  So today is “Tag it Tuesday” LOL.  Well we all know Stampin’ Up do amazing punches including the tag punches which I love!  However, you do not always have to use them as plain tags, albeit at Christmas this is mighty handy!  But throughout the year you may not feel the need to break out your tag punches but they can be used for so many other things!

I decided to create a couple of cards incorporating the Ornate Tag Topper Punch as an embellishment piece on my  card front.

So I took some Pistachio Pudding and So Saffron A4 Cardstock and I cut the So Saffron piece to 8 2/8inches x 5 7/8 inches and scored it at 4 1/8 inches and cut the Pistachio Pudding piece to 11 6/8 inches x 4 1/8 inches and scored this at 5 7/8 inches for my card bases.  I took some of the gorgeous Irresistibly Yours Designer Series Paper, free as part of the Sale-a-Bration promotion with every £45 you spend, see more details below, and cut two pieces to 5 5/8 inches x 3 7/8 inches and a further two pieces to 4 inches x 2 inches.  I then sponged on some Pistachio Pudding Classic Ink on to one of the larger pieces and some So Saffron Classic Ink on to the other larger piece of DSP.  Taking the two smaller pieces I sponged on Pink Pirouette Classic Ink on to one piece and some Wisteria Wonder Classic Ink on to the other piece.

Taking my Ornate Tag Topper punch I punched the two tag pieces from these smaller pieces of DSP.  To embellish the Tag I used the floral stamp image from the For The New Two Stamp Set.  I stamped this in all four colours and fussy cut this out.  I then took a small strip of Pistachio Pudding Cardstock and So Saffron Cardstock and stamped my sentiment from the Sheltering Tree Stamp Set in Memento Black Ink.  I thread some Pink Pirouette Seam Binding Ribbon through my pink tag and some Crushed Curry Ribbon through my Wisteria Wonder tag and then popped these up on some Stampin Dimensionals and adhered them to my card front.  I then adhered the stamped images and my sentiment banner.  I also took my Four Petal Flower Punch from the Itty Bitty Accent Punch Pack and punched 3 flowers from some Pistachio Pudding cardstock and some So Saffron cardstock.  I added some Basic Pearl Jewels to these and added them to my card front with some Mini Glue Dots.  I popped both card fronts onto my card bases with more Stampin Dimensionals and finished off with a few more Basic Pearl Jewels.

For the inside I just popped in some Whisper White Cardstock cut to 5 5/8 inches x 3 7/8 inches and stamped the floral images again from the For The New Two stamp set in coordinating colours.

I had no idea how these cards were going to turn out, I didn’t have a plan going into them only that I wanted to use the Ornate Tag Topper Punch!

Stampin’ Up Mum’s Love Mother’s Day Gift Tag

So you have seen my Mother’s Day card and Curvy Keepsake Box, now its time for my gift tag.  I am certainly getting my money’s worth out of my Mum’s Love Stamp Set from the Spring and Summer Catalogue .

Mum's Love Gift Tag

Mum’s Love Gift Tag

I took a piece of Whisper White cardstock and cut it at 5 1/2 inches (13.9cm) x 2 inches (5cm) and a piece Marina Mist A4 Cardstock measuring the same and using my Ornate Tag Topper punch I punched out two tags.  I then took a piece of my leftover embossed vellum from Sunday’s card (from A4 Vellum and the Something Lacy background stamp) cut this down and punched this into a tag piece.

On my Whisper White and Marina Mist cardstock I stamped images from the Mum’s Love stamp set.  I began by stamping images using the stamping off technique onto some paper first and then stamping on to my tags, I then stamped the main image and the sentiment in solid colour with the Marina Mist Classic Ink .

To bring my tag pieces together I threaded some Silver Baker’s Twine through one of the ever so pretty Something Borrowed Embellishments and tied it off.  I then used some sheer ribbon to tie my three tags and my embellishment together.
