Simply Sketched Saturday Challenge #10 Stampin’ Up’s Sneak Peek Confetti Celebration Birthday Card

Thank you for joining us for another Simply Sketched Saturday Challenge! We’re so excited to be sharing this hop with you. The products used are all available in the current Annual, or seasonal, Stampin’ Up!® Catalogues*. Simply use the buttons at the bottom of the post to keep hopping!

So this is sketch number 10 of our challenge and the sketch comes from the lovely Kathleen Rintoul-Waite at http://www.lilypopcrafts.co.uk

So for today’s sketch….

As mentioned in my last post I don’t make many male themed cards so although this sketch incorporated some floral embellishments I switched things round a little bit….

For my card base I used some A4 Whisper White Thick Cardstock cut at 4 1/8 inches and scored at 5 7/8 inches. I then took some A4 Basic Black cardstock cut to 4 inches x 5 6/8 inches for my first mat and then some A4 Tempting Turqouise cardtock cut at 3 7/8 inches x 5 5/8 inches for my second mat. I adhered these to my card base using Fast Fuse adhesive. Then taking some A4 Shimmery White cardstock cut to 3 5/8 inches x 5 3/8 inches I cut a 1/4 inch diagonally out of my card front and popped this up onto my card base with some Stampin Dimensionals. Using some thin strips cut from matching cardstock I adhered these in between my split in the card front.

I decided to make two cards but used Bermuda Bay A4 Cardstock for my second card.

Taking some more Basic Black, Bermuda Bay and Tempting Turqouise cardstock I stamped my main sentiment and a star sentiment, from the new Confetti Celebration Stamp Set (from the new 2016/17 Annual Catalogue, available from 1st June), in Versamark Ink  and heat embossed with White Stampin Emboss Powder. I punched my main sentiment out with my 2″ Circle Punch and punched out the star sentiment with the co-ordinating Star punch. I punched two further stars out with co-ordinating cardstock. I popped all these up on Stampin Dimensionals.

For the inside of my card I adhered a couple of matching strips of cardstock and stamped the “Happy Birthday” sentiment in Memento Tuxedo Black Ink. I then coloured this in with matching Temtping Turqouise and Bermuda Bay Stampin Write Markers.

This new stamp set is ideal for generic birthday cards, especially teenager cards, and is also available in a bundle with a brand new punch, soon to be revealed, watch this space!!!

I was so excited to get my copy of the new 2016 Occasions catalogue, but I was even more excited when I saw the A Nice Cuppa Stamp Set I love it and couldn’t wait to get my hands on it! The new 2016 Occasions Catalogue starts 2nd January and then you will also be able to get your hands on all these lovely goodies! Not forgetting from 5th January (excitingly jumps around) Sale’a’Bration starts!!

For my card base I used a piece of Whisper White A4 Thick Cardstock cut at 4 1/8 inches and scored at 5 7/8 inches. Using some of the gorgeous Have a Cuppa Designer Series Paper Stack I cut two strips measuring 1 1/2 inches x 5 7/8 inches. I adhered the Crushed Curry piece to my card front using Snail Adhesive. With the Bermuda Bay piece of DSP I did some partial die cutting with the tea cup die from the matching Cups and Kettle Framelits Die Set (which is available as a bundle saving 15%…….Amazing!!!). I then adhered this to my card front also.

I stamped the main image from the stamp set on to some Whisper White A4 Cardstock with some Melon Mambo Classic Ink. I did some “fussy cutting” and popped this up on some Stampin Dimensionals onto my card front.

To finish off the front of my card I stamped the “Steaming” Heart image above my teacups in Melon Mambo ink using the stamping off technique to go along with our theme for this blog hop of “One die or punch, One Stamp Set, One DSP and One Ink”. I also had to add some of the New Wink Of Stella Glitter Brush Pen to my stamped hearts. To top it all off I added some of the It’s My Party Enamel Dots.

For the inside of my card I stamped a sentiment and a cute little heart, in some Melon Mambo ink, from the stamp set.

Well that’s my card for this extra special blog hop with our International friends.

Thanks for hopping by, Louise xx

Stampin’ Up Sale-a-Bration Best Year Ever and You Plus Me Valentines Card

Well if you have not realised it is Valentine’s Day in four days!! You can not get away from it in the shops, although there is a lot more around now than there used to be.  It is becoming more and more popular here in the UK although I am not too sure about the rest of Europe but I know our friends in the states celebrate it with a lot more enthusiasm than we do although why not!? It is a day where we get to tell those we love and care about how much we love and appreciate them, so come on jump on board the love train (too cheesy??…….sorry!) and get everyone involved and have a bit of fun!  I will be posting some Valentine projects this week that will hopefully inspire you to get involved.

So to start off I thought may be you are not into the lovey dovey stuff and did not want to send a all singing dancing fluff and sequins card, or you have teenage children that you want to give a card to but they are way to cool to care! So I thought a simple card with slightly more discreet colours would work.  So I chose a piece of White Naturals A4 Cardstock for my card base cut at 5 7/8 inches (14.8cm) scored at 4 1/8 inches (10.5 cm) and some of the gorgeous Best Year Ever Designer Series Paper this paper is available as part of the SAB promotion where you can choose a “Free” product from the SAB catalogue for every £45 you spend on Stampin’ Up products, Bargain!!

I took a piece of the Naturals White cardstock  to make a front panel for my card cut a 1/4 inch smaller on the length and width of my card base.  I then used the heart die from the ever so versatile Mini Treat Bag Thinlits Die set , from the Spring and Summer Catalogue to cut out two hearts from my panel.  This die set can be used in many different projects not just to make the treat bags, these sets are such good value for money as they come with word dies, banner dies and embellishment dies which can be used on so many different things and are great when like me you are building up your supplies and do not have many dies.

I took some of the Best Year Ever DSP to pop behind the windows created by the heart die, I used some of the paler more traditional type paper with what look like lots of kisses for my first card and teamed this with a strip of Pink Pirouette Cardstock 2 3/4 inches (7cm x 2cm) on to which I stamped a sentiment out of the You Plus Me stamp set with Versamark Ink and heat embossed it using my heat tool and Stampin’ Up White Embossing Powder.  I then cut this into a banner shape and popped it in between my two heart shapes.

For my second card I used a more non-traditional paper and some Bermuda Bay Cardstock for my sentiment.  You could perhaps use this for way cooler teenager boys or those tom-boy daughters who despise everything pink, like me when I was a bit or a lot younger, not like my daughter who is definitely a girly girl!!  I added three hearts punched from matching cardstock and DSP with the heart punch from the Itty Bitty Accent Punch Pack.

I kept the inside very simple to match the front of this card.  I just used a strip of DSP, matching cardstock and two hearts with the Heart punch from the Itty Bitty Accent Punch pack.

Stampin’ Up Sale-a-Bration Big Day Birthday Card

Since I received the Sale-a-Bration Big Day stamp set and the Best Year Ever Designer Series Paper , which are both free as part of the Sale-a-Bration promotion (details below), I have been dying to experiment with them and there is nothing like Stampin’ on a Saturday!!

SAB Big Day stamp set

So I chose two of the papers from the designer series paper and a sheet of Pool Party cardstock for my card base measuring 11 6/8 inches x 4 1/8 inches (A4 cardstock cut in half), which I scored at 5 7/8 inches with my brand spanking new Simply Scored Scoring tool, which I am so excited about (it is like Christmas every time I get a delivery!!).  I then cut a piece of Whisper White cardstock to 5 1/2 inches x 3 6/8 inches as my front panel, to which I adhered two strips of designer series paper measuring 5 inches x 1 1/2 inches and 4 1/2 inches x 1 1/2 inches length ways with snail adhesive.

Then on to another new toy (eek) I cut a piece of Whisper White cardstock to 2 inches wide and used my Ornate Tag Topper Punch to create a tag which I cut down to 2 1/2 inches long.

Then came out the lovely Sale-a-Bration Big Day stamp set and with Bermuda Bay Classic Ink I stamped the largest sentiment in the set on the tag.  I then used the Costal Cabana ribbon, part of the Best Year Ever embellishment pack (free with SAB), to tie through the tag as an embellishment.  I used the star punch from the Itty Bitty Accents punch pack to punch out 3 stars, 1 from the DSP and 2 from the Pool Party cardstock.  Using Stampin’ Dimensionals I adhered the tag and the stars to the front panel of Whisper White cardstock and used some Basic Rhinestones to add to the stars and the tag.  Once all adhered I used Stampin Dimensionals to pop my front panel to my card base.

For the inside of my card I took the matching sentiment to the one I stamped on the front of my card and in the Pool Party classic ink I stamped this on to a strip of Whisper White cardstock measuring 3/4 inch x 3 1/2 inches and another strip of DSP measuring 1 inch x 4 inches and adhered these to the bottom of the inside of my card.

To finish my card off I used a piece of the DSP measuring 8 7/8 x 8/78 inches and my envelope punch board and created a matching envelope.

I hope you like my latest project, I love the colours of this card very Springtime!!
