So Valentine’s Day is three days away!! I decided to make my daughter some little Valentine’s goodies to use at school this week. She is stationery mad and loves note pads and books etc. so I got a little creative with a Mini Post it holder and then covered a simple notebook to match.
So for both projects I used the Stacked with Love Designer Series Paper stack from the Spring and Summer Catalogue. Firstly I made the mini post it holder. I took some Calypso Coral A4 Cardstock and cut it down to 3 x 9 4/8 inches (7.5cm x 23.8cm) and scored it using my Simply Scored Scoring Tool at the following points 2 inches, 2 5/8 inches, 4 6/8 inches, 5 5/8 inches, 7 6/8 inches and 8 5/8 inches (5cm, 6.5cm, 11.6cm, 14cm, 19.3cm and 21.7cm). Then taking a sheet of the Stacked with Love DSP I cut 6 pieces of DSP the first for the front at 2 3/4 inches x 1.7/8 inches (7cm x 4.8cm), then a piece for the back at 2 3/4 inches x 2 inches (7cm x 5cm), and finally for the middle at 2 3/4 inches x 1 6/8 inches (7cm x 4.5cm). Then I cut three pieces for the sides, the first for the flap at the front at 2 3/4 inch x 1/2 inch (7cm x 1.3cm) and then two pieces for the sides at 2 3/4 inches x 6/8 inch (7cm x 1.9cm). I adhered all these with snail adhesive to my scored cardstock. I then took 3 mini post it pads and took some more snail adhesive and stuck these on the three largest panels on the inside of my cardstock. To fasten this I did try a couple of methods and found the best way was with some Velcro dots that I purchased on Amazon relatively cheaply.
I then took a simple jotter notebook that I picked up in my local pound shop (I think it was in a pack of 3 or 4 for a pound) I measured a piece of Basic Black Cardstock for the front panel plus 1/8 inch, then the thickness of the pad and allowed approximately two inches to be able to secure the cardstock on the back of the notebook, my piece measured 7 6/8 inches x 4 2/8 inches (19.6cm x 10.9cm) but your notebooks may be of a different size so you will need to measure it. I scored my cardstock at 5 6/8 inches and then again at 6 inches for the folds over the top of the notebook. Sam Donald of http://www.pootles.co.uk has a brilliant YouTube tutorial on how to measure and cover notebooks, her YouTube name is PootlesPapercraft!
I then cut a piece of Stacked with Love DSP measuring 5 1/2 inches x 4 2/8 inches (14cm x 10.9cm) and adhered this to the cardstock covering the front of my notebook. I then added three hearts to each project using the heart punch from the Itty Bitty Accent Punch pack, I promise I will try and make something where I don’t use this punch, but I love it!! I cut three hearts for each project from Dazzling Diamonds Glimmer Paper and for the mini post it holder I used Calypso Coral cardstock and for the notebook Basic Black cardstock and layered the six hearts on top of each other adding a Basic Rhinestone to each heart to finish.
My daughter loved these and has come back from school with a list of school friends that also want them, didn’t do myself any favours there did I????
