Well if you have not realised it is Valentine’s Day in four days!! You can not get away from it in the shops, although there is a lot more around now than there used to be. It is becoming more and more popular here in the UK although I am not too sure about the rest of Europe but I know our friends in the states celebrate it with a lot more enthusiasm than we do although why not!? It is a day where we get to tell those we love and care about how much we love and appreciate them, so come on jump on board the love train (too cheesy??…….sorry!) and get everyone involved and have a bit of fun! I will be posting some Valentine projects this week that will hopefully inspire you to get involved.
So to start off I thought may be you are not into the lovey dovey stuff and did not want to send a all singing dancing fluff and sequins card, or you have teenage children that you want to give a card to but they are way to cool to care! So I thought a simple card with slightly more discreet colours would work. So I chose a piece of White Naturals A4 Cardstock for my card base cut at 5 7/8 inches (14.8cm) scored at 4 1/8 inches (10.5 cm) and some of the gorgeous Best Year Ever Designer Series Paper this paper is available as part of the SAB promotion where you can choose a “Free” product from the SAB catalogue for every £45 you spend on Stampin’ Up products, Bargain!!
I took a piece of the Naturals White cardstock to make a front panel for my card cut a 1/4 inch smaller on the length and width of my card base. I then used the heart die from the ever so versatile Mini Treat Bag Thinlits Die set , from the Spring and Summer Catalogue to cut out two hearts from my panel. This die set can be used in many different projects not just to make the treat bags, these sets are such good value for money as they come with word dies, banner dies and embellishment dies which can be used on so many different things and are great when like me you are building up your supplies and do not have many dies.
I took some of the Best Year Ever DSP to pop behind the windows created by the heart die, I used some of the paler more traditional type paper with what look like lots of kisses for my first card and teamed this with a strip of Pink Pirouette Cardstock 2 3/4 inches (7cm x 2cm) on to which I stamped a sentiment out of the You Plus Me stamp set with Versamark Ink and heat embossed it using my heat tool and Stampin’ Up White Embossing Powder. I then cut this into a banner shape and popped it in between my two heart shapes.
For my second card I used a more non-traditional paper and some Bermuda Bay Cardstock for my sentiment. You could perhaps use this for way cooler teenager boys or those tom-boy daughters who despise everything pink, like me when I was a bit or a lot younger, not like my daughter who is definitely a girly girl!! I added three hearts punched from matching cardstock and DSP with the heart punch from the Itty Bitty Accent Punch Pack.
I kept the inside very simple to match the front of this card. I just used a strip of DSP, matching cardstock and two hearts with the Heart punch from the Itty Bitty Accent Punch pack.
